Libya National Day

December 24th is the national day of our country Libya, happy birthday my love, my life, my eyes, my sweetheart my country, you turned 60 , when we look back to the history, we can see how much you suffered,  you suffered from one occupation to another, you suffered from dictator to another, you being abused a lot, we also your sons and daughters being abused, but we don't blame you we know it's not your fault,  I am sorry my country.

Is it the final scene of this dark drama, is the future would be a bright, isn't the time for those criminals and gangs to get out of your way? I don't know .

My country please forgive us, we let you down when you wanted us the most and let you alone for those who did not concern about you.

I am sorry.

World AIDS day !

You know ! December 1St is the world AIDS day , I was surfing some websites , so I came cross one which asking what are you going to do regarding AIDS issue in it's annual day….so I'd liked to participate by increasing awareness regarding this disease.

First of all the term "AIDS" stands for "acquired immune deficiency syndrome  " and it's an advanced stage of the disease in HIV positive people , I mean the people who are infected by the virus which called "human immunodeficiency virus" (HIV), this virus from the medical view is a retrovirus which means it's an RNA virus and has the ability to reverse its RNA component to DNA component by using what's know as a reverse transcriptase enzymes.

When we talk about it's ways of transmission  from one to another, we can mention the sexual intercourse way which's the most common, and through using shared razor of infected person , also through the blood and blood products which include blood transfusion, IV drug users , and though occupational contaminated needle exposure, it's also transmitted vertically from the mother to the fetus if they are not treated, but it's not transmitted through casual contact  like kissing , shared utensils, or toilet seats .

The virus is affecting some specific cells according to some interactions between the virus and certain receptors on those cells which help the virus attaching and entering that cells , the cells include CD4 T helper cells , macrophages and neural dendritic cells  , once the virus enter the cells it starts to replicate rapidly to increase it's number, macrophage and dendritic cells act as a reservoir to the virus while the CD4 T helper cells being the victims , destruction of those cells leading to lose the "acquired immunity",  the immunity which being acquired through the exposure to the offenders, ultimately this result in suppression of the immune system , this makes the body easily attacked by opportunistic infections and some types of cancers.

Prevention is the most useful way of fighting the virus and disease, this is through education about the virus and the disease also through safe sex measures , screening pregnant women , through screening blood donation , and drug prophylaxis in case of needle exposures.

What we want ?

We don't want the military rule any more.

We don't want the religious rule any more.

We don't want any type of despotism any more.

We don't want any autocracy any more.

We want a civilized country , we want a modern country, we want a country which accommodate it's
all citizens , they have all the same rights and obligations , we don't want any sort of discrimination.

We do want our basic human rights, we want our right to think , to live freely , to express our-selves
without any fear, simply we want a our country to be like our mother, and not like our enemy.

Arab revolutions and Foreign intervention!

When we talk about the Arab revolutions which took place early this year and overthrew three dictators right now ,  form their power while other still struggle to maintain their position , it was a surprise to the rest of the world that the Arab population finally woke up , when we talk about that , no one could miss the foreign intervention in these revolutions , although it varied from one revolution to another, I want to talk about my home country Libya and about the Libyan revolution , our revolution started as a peaceful demonstration , it was inspired by the revolutions of Tunisia and Egypt,  people where demanding their rights, their freedom and their dignity but they faced by barbaric repression  , so it tuned to an armed revolution , especially when the people saw the mercenaries being brought to the country by the former regime and the story went on as a fighting between the people and pro- Gadhafi forces, the cities were attacked one after another and people were suffering the hell under the regime, the world leaders were ordering Gadhafi to withdraw his troops to there barracks,  one day Gadhafi send a big armed convoy to Benghazi  a stronghold city of opposition, there was a massacre going to happen, but thanks to coalition air forces which prevented that.

NATO intervened in Libya to protect civilians from the regime mandated by the UN resolution , NATO jets were flying over to protect us from our own army our own soldiers , from people who share us our nationality and our land a people who sward to protect their civilians and their land  , it's so sad   .

We were feel the security when their jets flying over when they are bombarding , they are shared us in our revolution, for them we are very grateful and for them we send our concrete salutation .

Although it was pretty bloody situation ,the people having no other options, to oust this dictator from his power , and from the beginning I knew it won't be easy at all.

I say that because I saw many people especially from the Arab world,  crying over the foreign intervention, I ask them what you could provide to protect Arab civilians from the their regimes , now look to Syria , there's no foreign intervention, please let me see you do something instead of usual crying.

I hope this crisis to change the minds of the people to be more respectful to human rights , to law and to social justice and inshallah   Libya will be modern , peaceful , open and democratic country.

Safe and sound!

Hey everyone , I am safe and still alive after Feb 17th revolution or should say after the Libyan war , we went through very difficult times , as a Libyan and from the city of Misurata , the city which was under a siege for more than 3 months , it was a fierce fighting taking place every where in the city , there was a heavy shelling every day for long time by the troops of the killed leader Moamer Gadhfi , there was no electricity no pure water for drinking and we ran out of food at that time , we where under a very stressful conditions both mentally and physical, actually we were waiting for the moment of losing our lives and the lives of our relatives and it happened we lost a lot of our relatives and friends , at that time I felt that the whole world has been collapsed but now it's better situation .

Although I am happy for the success of our revolution , I feel very sad for losing every one's life in this conflict , when I think deeply about what has happened in my country, I wonder why all this violence , what is the reason for all this killing , destruction , kidnapping , torturing and all the awful things ,is it worth ? it's silly and it's unfair at all that one crazy mad man who want to destroy that whole society just for his own interest that he don't want to cede the power .
I really lost the hope many many times during the war , but I had a believe that the Libyan people will win at the end .

Now I have another experience , actually it's horrific experience , now I do know what does the war mean , and it's right to say that there's nothing good in the war except it's end, now when I watch the news and see conflicts around the world I exactly know what the people there suffer from , and feel their feelings .

Life is unfair and the human is nothing but an animal, he/she follows the same rules that the other animals follow for survive , the man is the most hostile creature in the world , the man is driven by his genes not his morals , the morals can not stand against the power of genes , the genes which constructed through million of years of struggle for survive just look around and see the conflicts out there , look to the children who are suffering , look to the women who suffer to live as equal to the men , the woman who's being sexually abused every day, look to innocent people being killed every day , and look to the unfairness in this cruel world.

I think the cultural backgrounds have a lot in all the conflicts erupted here or there, a culture of violence a culture of aggression and religions which prompt the people on an aggressive and violent behavior , it's really so sad.

I rexperienced the life and now looking from different angles , and hope to get better.

Hello again !

Hi guys !

I am still alive, but i was so busy last months , i was engaged with my study and exams , and the results came out and i passed .
I am satisfied about my doing this year , because i gave almost my all , and i hope to keep the same pace and do better next year .
I look forward to start the next year which is the forth one , that we will start the clinical stage , and hopefully to find it interesting , there many skills to be learnt, when we start i'll tell you how the things going on.
What i want to tell you about today is that a few days ago i came across an article in NEW YORK TIMES about intellectual levels , IQ , working memory and can we increase our intelligence by practicing certain exercises ?, so i found that very interesting , so i did some research and reading about such topics , and of course there were many things i can't understand because i read such things for the first time and i read by myself without a basic background, anyway that reminded me that i have a book for IQ testing , so i had a try in one test , and the results was awful , for sure am not going to tell you how much i scored , am i a stupid ? I don't think so , because i did well in the questions related to numerical ability . Diagrammatic and spatial reasoning but not in the linguistic questions , as you probably know the English is my second language and i am not pretty good at it , so i had a trouble with such a questions .
Ok now I have a question for you guys and let me see how you will doing , here we go :

Which is the missing tile ?

I'll put the answer when I got enough comments .

Birthday

It's a year , the age of my blog , but of course not the beginning of my writing , I've started my daily even before having a blog , anyway I want to say happy birthday to my blog "High Hopes" witch means in our language "Amal-kobra".
In this occasion I want to talk about the value of my writing and the value of my blog itself , what I do here is just talking about my life and my daily routine and of course sometimes bring up some silly issues from here or there .
When I decided to have a blog , my thinking was different , I was thinking that it's great to have a blog , to sharing your issues with other people , to take some opinions from the others …etc but today I look to the this from other side …. I look to the value of my writing not the action of writing itself .
And when I judge all the stuff here I didn't find any thing may be useful to the other , all in all is just personal opinions .
And on the other hand I don't put the work of people who is writing daily down , the people who is writing something fantastic or the individuals who are the writing is their hobby , that’s fine .
May some one ask! What are you doing here; you are doing the same thing!
Yes, but today the story is different , I am writing today to improve something , to improve my writing skills , as you know , the English is my second language , and may some of you who can read both the Arabic and English , notice the conversion of writing in Arabic to the English .
I am using this field to improve my skills , important to me as I see today , and may be one day I will change my mind .

That's all for today
